With Bo Rinaldi (Best Seller) who co-authored The Secret of Paradise, Patricio Tamariz has always had a passion for promoting his homeland. Patricio is a national and international tourism consultant, and was the main advisor for the Organization of American States for the Andean Region for their program on technical Assistance to small hotels. Patricio also has held the positions of Director of Tourism for the province of Manabí (2000), Manager for the Coast of Ecuador (2000-2003) and Undersecretary of Marketing (2010) for the Ministry of Tourism. Patricio was also appointed the first Executive Director for Ecuador’s first Tourism Promotion Fund (2004-2007) and helped place Ecuador for the first time as a sustainable worldwide tourism destination. He has made presentations for Ecuador in more than 60 cities worldwide. He helped Ecuador win the Gold Odyssey Award, which was the first ever award given to a foreign country by the Travel Industry of America in their history. This award was given for the beautiful advertising campaign that the Ecuador Tourism Promotion Fund created and communicated with innovative Sustainable Travel messages in the United States. Team effort with the public and private sectors led to spectacular results for the Fund.

He helped manage the Chirije Eco Lodge www.chirije.com and the CasaGrande Boutique Hotel www.casagrandebahia.com, which his family has owned since 1994. The Secret of Paradise is his first book and represents the deep knowledge, passion and appreciation for the wonders of the Pacific Coast of Ecuador.
Patricio and his family are related to the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Coast and Andes, as well as the early European settlers of Ecuador. Contained in this book is the unique perspective through his indigenous roots, his European bloodline and his modern day vision of Paradise on Earth.
